The best Plausible alternatives

Plausible is good software, so people rarely leave it because it's bad. They leave for one of three specific reasons: the Business-plan gate on funnels and revenue, the price at higher pageview tiers, or a need it was never built for. Each has a different answer.

1. Fathom Analytics

Best for the closest like-for-like swap

A cookieless, GDPR-focused analytics service that has been shipping since 2018, with an unusually generous number of sites per plan.

Where it wins
The same philosophy with a different plan structure: conversions and revenue on every tier, at least 50 sites included, and data kept forever.
The tradeoff
Not open source and not self-hostable, so if that's why you chose Plausible, this isn't the move.
Pricing model
Tiered by monthly pageviews with every feature on every plan — $45/mo at 500k pageviews, at least 50 sites included, and forever data retention. Check current pricing

2. Pirsch

Best for the cheapest managed option

A German, cookieless analytics service with a generous free trial and one of the lowest entry prices in the category.

Where it wins
$6/mo at the entry tier and unlimited websites on the $12 Plus plan, with a 30-day trial and no credit card.
The tradeoff
Ecommerce revenue tracking is a Plus-plan feature, and the ecosystem is smaller than Plausible's.
Pricing model
Standard $6/mo for 10k monthly pageviews and Plus $12/mo with unlimited websites, where ecommerce revenue tracking, A/B testing, and segmentation start. Check current pricing

3. Revtrail

That's usBest for subscription businesses that need revenue to reconcile

Cookieless web and mobile analytics where the headline number is revenue: payments arrive from verified Stripe and RevenueCat webhooks and are credited to the channel that first brought the visitor.

Where it wins
Amounts can't be sent from a browser at all — they arrive only from signed Stripe and RevenueCat webhooks, deduplicated by event ID, and stay credited to the first-touch channel through renewals, giving lifetime value by source.
The tradeoff
Hosted only, closed source, no free tier. If self-hosting or open source is why you're on Plausible, this is a downgrade on both.
Pricing model
Starter $9/mo and Growth $49/mo by monthly event allowance, every feature on both plans, 14-day trial, no free tier. Check current pricing

4. Umami

Best for staying open source and self-hosted, for less

An MIT-licensed analytics app you can run yourself on Postgres or MySQL, with a hosted cloud version if you'd rather not.

Where it wins
MIT-licensed and free to self-host, with a simpler operational footprint than most alternatives and a hosted option if you change your mind.
The tradeoff
No revenue attribution, and the database becomes your problem as the events table grows.
Pricing model
Free forever if you self-host — you pay for the server. The hosted cloud is a paid monthly plan by event volume. Check current pricing

5. Simple Analytics

Best for even less dashboard

A Dutch, privacy-first analytics tool built around a deliberately minimal single-screen dashboard.

Where it wins
A deliberately minimal single screen with a free tier, EU-based, and no cookies or consent banners.
The tradeoff
Deliberately doesn't go deep on conversion or revenue reporting, so it's a lateral move unless simplicity is the goal.
Pricing model
A free tier plus self-serve from $20/mo around 100k pageviews, scaling with traffic; enterprise adds ad-blocker traffic recovery and raw data export. Check current pricing

If it's the Business-plan gate

Funnels, ecommerce revenue attribution, and the Stats API start on Plausible's Business plan. If you're upgrading purely to unlock those, price the alternatives at the same tier — Fathom includes conversions and revenue on every plan, Revtrail includes funnels and revenue on both. The comparison people get wrong is Starter-to-Starter, when the plan you actually need is the one where those features live.

If it's the revenue number itself

Plausible's revenue comes from values you attach to custom events fired in the browser. That's flexible, and it means the number is whatever the page said it was. Revtrail rejects amounts from the beacon entirely and takes them only from verified payment webhooks. If your reporting has to reconcile with Stripe rather than approximate it, that's the difference worth paying for.

If it's open source you care about

Then most of this list is the wrong direction and you should stay, self-host Plausible, or move to Umami or Matomo. We're closed source and hosted only. It's worth naming that plainly rather than hoping you don't notice halfway through a migration.

Questions people actually ask

Is there a cheaper alternative to Plausible?
Pirsch starts lower at the entry tier, and self-hosting Umami or Matomo costs only the server. Compare at the tier that has the features you need, not at the entry tier.
Which alternatives are also cookieless?
Fathom, Pirsch, Simple Analytics, and Revtrail are all designed to run without a consent banner. Umami and Matomo can be configured that way.
Can I move my Plausible data to another tool?
Plausible has an export, but no alternative here offers a matching import — plan on running both during an overlap period.
